10 Tips From My Favourite Instagram Accounts

The most perfect thing about Instagram is the opportunity to connect with brilliant like-minded creatives from around the world. With every refresh of my feed, I'm in constant awe of the accounts I follow and the amazing content being produced daily. In today's post, I reached out to my favourite accounts to ask their number one tip for taking the perfect gram and for Instagram in general.

"My number one tip would be to have an idea in your head before your shoot, using a mood board, and to fill in the gaps on shoot with sporadic spontaneous photos! When your shoot is too structured, you can miss out on the magic. And when it's not planned at all, you won't come away with what you're after."

"Mine might be quite straight forward and obvious but it's to wait for the right natural lighting for the mood of the photo you're going for."

"My number one would be to stick to authentic photos that you like and try not to follow trends. If you are posting a photo to impress someone else, you're doing it wrong. Treat Instagram like a visual diary instead."

"Mine would be to not put too much pressure on yourself. Everyone is at different stages with their Instagram so don't get sucked into comparing yourself to others. Just do your thing and have fun with it!"

"I think the best tip I could give is - if it doesn't fit, get rid of it! Sometimes you have to sacrifice if you want your feed to look cohesive and clean. A photo you might really want to post may not compliment the rest of your photos. In that case, try rearranging your photos or replacing it with something else. Quality over quantity."

"My number one tip is to be kind to yourself through the process! Sometimes we have an idea of what we want but for some odd reason it just isn't happening that way. Be easy on yourself and know that the creation will eventually come. (Saying this because I've been very frustrated at times and feel defeated myself.)"

"I think the most important thing is to stay true to yourself and your own personal style! Have fun and don't let yourself get caught up in taking the perfect shot (I'm guilty of this!). The best pictures capture the moments that actually happen."

"My tip would be don't get discouraged when your page isn't turning out just how you want it! Stay consistent and just keep doing your thang. In reality you're your own toughest critic and to everyone else you just look like you know what your doing. Don't give up!"

"Enjoy every minute of it, enjoy creating and don't get too hung up on the numbers. Start real conversations with people and build those friendships because in the end those are the things that will last"

"Build a little community. Not because it helps with engagement rates or you want a like - but because one of the best things about Instagram is being able to discover like-minded people from all over the world. I’ve actually made some real life friends from IG that are amazing people - and am just super grateful to Insti for leading me to them!"
